Offer sales promotions on your Shopify store to increase sales, attract new customers, and keep old customers.

Buy-one-get-one-free type offers are one of the most popular and effective marketing tools — a sales promotion in which an item is offered free or at a reduced or discounted price when another item is purchased at full price.

Note: The success of BOGO promotions lies in the fact that the price actually takes into account the fact that two items are being sold.
The price of "one" is somewhat nominal and is typically raised when used as part of a buy-one-get-one-free deal. 
Whilst the cost per item is proportionately cheaper than if bought on its own, it is not actually half price.




How to create a Sales Promotion

1. Click "Create New Promotion" on the Dashboard or go to Create → Promotions to immediately start setting up a sales promotion.

Or go to Campaigns → Promotions to access existing promotions and manage them.


2. Here you can see and edit all the sales promotions that are currently running on your store.

Click "Create New Promotion" to start setting up a sales promotion.


3. Name your new sales promotion.


4. Start configuring your sales promotion by selecting what the customer needs to do to activate the offer.

They can either add something to the cart or complete checkout with a certain quantity of a specific product or a product from a specific collection.

So, if you want to show the offer as soon as the customer adds an item to the cart, select "Adds to Cart" from the drop-down menu.

If you want to show the offer AFTER the customer places the order, select "Checks out with" from the drop-down menu.


5. Select a specific product or a product from a specific collection from the drop-down menu and select the quantity.


6. Next, select what the customer will get for completing the requirements of the sales promotion.

Select the quantity, select a specific product, indicate if the discount is based on a percentage or a dollar value, and indicate the value of the discount. 


7. Now, you need to set up the design of the popup that will display your sales promotion.

By default, the generic sales promotion popup is selected and you can customize it's upsell and success message texts right here.

Note: You can search for one of your popups as well, but you will have to customize it on your own via the Drag & Drop Builder. 


8. Click "Preview popup" to see what the selected popup looks like.


9. If you want to customize the design of the generic sales promotion popup or one of your own via the Drag & Drop Builder, click "Advanced editing in builder".


10. Once your sales promotion is ready, click "Save & Activate".
